Young Family Farm

Me with my aunt Joan

This past weekend I took a little trip over to Milton Pennsylvania with my mom and aunt for a family reunion. It was wonderful to meet family that I never knew I had. The trip was short but so beautiful. The leaves are already changing there and autumn is definitely in the air!

The best part of the weekend for me was taking a visit to where my great grandmother grew up. Her farm was built in the late 1840’s and there are still bits and pieces of her and her brothers and sisters all over the barn. Names in the cement or marks in the wood to indicate how much feed was needed for the animals.

And, I can’t forget the sunflowers! Wow! We came across and entire field full of sunflowers. It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

Eating vegan was a little difficult. I had a lot of salads. I can’t complain though. I had food!

We also took a trip to the cemetery to pay our respect to our family.

I had a lovely little weekend with the ladies. It was nice to walk on the same dirt that my grammy walked on. I was lucky enough to have known my great grandma until I was a teenager. The stories she told me and the things she taught me will forever be with me and I’m happy that I could take a trip to her farm to get a sense of where I’m from.

I love you grammy <3
